COLD STORE CHECKER – Permanent

Main purpose of the Job: We are looking to appoint a Cold Store Checker in the Operations Department. You will report to the Warehouse Supervisor. You will fulfil the necessary requirements within the Department to meet the Company’s objectives by providing accurate stock records and relevant information to the organisation and always ensuring the effective stock control systems of the Department and Office.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Issuing of the correct stock to customers as per picking slips.
  • Capturing the correct details of containers and trucks.
  • Checking and offloading of delivery vehicles.
  • Check and produce accurate relevant documents timeously.
  • Capturing of all customer information for pre-advice etc.
  • Liaising with truck drivers, external customers, and other checkers.
  • Reporting any discrepancies and non-conformances to avoid incorrect or damaged inventories.
  • Complying with all required standards such as Occupational Health & Safety, Food standards (HACCP, GMP’s)  & Operational procedures (SOP’s) etc.
  • Treat customers in a friendly, professional, and prompt manner to ensure excellent
  • Ensure that confidentiality is always maintained.
  • Ad hoc duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required.

    • Minimum qualification: Matric
    • Supply Chain/Logistics qualification advantageous.
    • 5 years’ warehousing experience.
    • Forklift licence – advantageous.
    • Good understanding of stock takes & warehouse management systems and procedures.
    • Proven Computer skills.
    • Shipping and Freight environment experience advantageous.
    • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
    • Able to work weekends and overtime.
    • Own transport advantageous.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Skills include planning, teamwork, accuracy, customer service, stress tolerance, and multitasking.
