Nico joined Table Bay Cold Storage (TBCS) in 2012 as the Technical Manager, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a passion for problem-solving and contributing to innovative solutions. His commitment to staying updated with industry developments and opportunities is a testament to his dedication to continuous improvement.
Nico’s technical expertise and practical thinking stem from his early years as an electrical apprentice in the copper mines of Namaqualand. He acquired valuable knowledge during this time, which he later enhanced by achieving his N5 Certificate and becoming a registered installation electrician. With over 35 years of experience spanning various industries, Nico is often referred to as a “jack of all trades.” However, it is his mastery in multiple areas that truly sets him apart and makes him an indispensable asset to TBCS.
In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, Nico firmly believes that age is no barrier to learning something new. He understands the importance of embracing change, both in the working environment and in life in general. COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Colin’s journey with Table Bay Cold Storage (TBCS) began in 2000 when he joined as a Stores Accountant. During his time in this role, he developed a keen interest in the area of Food Safety and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), a crucial food safety program. Motivated to expand his knowledge and expertise, Colin pursued the necessary qualifications, leading to his promotion as the Compliance Manager for the Group.
As the Compliance Manager, Colin shoulders the responsibility of ensuring that TBCS remains compliant with both local and EU regulatory requirements, particularly in the areas of exports and imports. His role is critical to upholding the business’s promise to its customers, ensuring that every product passing through TBCS receives the utmost care and adheres to the highest food safety standards.
Colin takes great pride in implementing, developing, and updating all food safety and quality protocols at TBCS. The company’s HACCP compliance leads to regular audits by various competent authorities, including the Department of Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF), the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), and the Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB), among others. Colin’s mission is to achieve 100% compliance during these audits, which necessitates a meticulous approach to temperature control programs and the maintenance of comprehensive registers to verify all aspects of food safety.
While Colin is dedicated to his role, he also believes in maintaining balance in life. He embraces the “work hard, play hard” philosophy and finds immense satisfaction in being part of the motivated TBCS team that strives to achieve its strategic goals. Contributing to the accomplishment of these goals fuels his drive and dedication.
